Kumar’s Heartbreaks. Arjun takes Poongodi to a small town named Hosur. With the help of his close friend Kishore, Arjun lives with Poongodi and her baby girl in a huge house. A few months later, after knowing that Arjun will never marry her, Poongodi becomes unhappy and confused.
One day Arjun’s cousin comes to Hosur for his Occupational and sees Arjun living with Poongodi. He then guides Arjun and Kishore to send back Poongodi to her Husband. Meanwhile, Kumar knows the situation of Poongodi and comes to meet her. What happens is the Climax.
Debutant Kaali Rangasamy’s Oru Kuppai Kathai opens with a shot of a drunk Kumar (Dinesh), clad in shabby clothes and boarding a bus to Salem, giving us a brief deceptive impression that the Kuppai in the title might signify his unhappy appearance and profession.
But the point the director actually wants to make is that it is the materialistic and treacherous heart of humans that is the actual garbage. The Movie could have joined the league of underdog dramas like Angadi Theru, Veyil, and Kaadhal, but falls well short due to numerous issues.
Kumar is a garbage collector in Chennai. His mother’s only worry is finding a good girl for her son. It finally happens when they meet Poongudi’s parents in Vaalparai.

A surprised Poongudi decides to go back home, but her parents ask her to stay with Kumar.
Understanding his mistake, Kumar shifts his home from the slum to an apartment, and he also decides to change his profession for his wife.
But Poongudi slowly gets attracted to a software engineer Arjun (Sujo Mathew), elopes with him to Hosur, and takes her newborn girl child.
Oru kuppai kathai movie film begins well, as the director captures the expressions of his actor through cinematographer Mahesh Muthusamy’s frames.
The immediate reaction of Manisha after entering the slum for the first time and how conditions change her in the Climax is an example of poignant filmmaking and artistic cinematography.
While Kaali Rangasamy says that only actual love matters and not looks and status, why does he place a scene degrading an obese lady in the bride hunt sequence? If the director expects his audiences to laugh at the body-shaming series, don’t expect them to accept your hard-hitting message.
Dinesh is a promising newcomer who has to progress. Manisha Yadav has given her career-best performance in Oru Kuppa Kathai, and she has excelled in many emotional sequences, especially in the pre-climax part.
Cinematographer Mahesh Muthusamy and music composer Joshua Sridhar have lifted the film with their exemplary works.
After Kaadhal, this is another commendable work from the composer.
Overall, Oru Kuppa Kathai is a interesting subject that deals with the extramarital affair and its pitfalls. The first half is ok, and it is the second half which becomes like a never-ending serial.
